  1. In a small saucepan, add turmeric, giner, lemon juice, leftover lemon rind, cayenne pepper, and filtered water.

  2. Bring to a simmer over medium heat for 3 minutes and then turn off the heat.

  3. Set a small strainer over serving glasses or a jug. If the tonic is too potent, feel free to dilute it with warm water.

  4. Store the leftovers in the fridge for 2-3 days. Reheat on the stovetop until it is warm.

What is a tonic?

A tonic is a healing beverage of substance that leads to a feeling of well-being or vigor. I drink a small teacup of this tonic every single morning or at night before bed and I absolutely love it.

Turmeric has antioxidants and anti-inflammatory effects.

Ginger is a natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant that is known to aid digestion and can relieve nausea.

Lemon is naturally detoxifying, is high in Vitamin C which boosts the immune system, and helps with digestion.

Cayenne pepper stimulates circulation, boosts metabolism, and naturally relieves pain.
